MILA ILORIA
BIO| MIXED MEDIA ARTIST
Mila Iloria was born in the Soviet Union in a province of Komi at a Gulag settlement (based for intellectual exiles). She received a good school education (partly private). She obtained the Master of Economics Degree from Plekhanov Economic Academy, Moscow. As an exchange student she moved to Tampere University in 1998. Mila has been working in various small and stock exchange companies. After realising that money had not brought her happiness (as she used to think since she was a child), she chose to explore the world, people and herself.
My philosophy of “knowing oneself”
(Cognosce te ipsum)
has been the core of my artistic method.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Mila Iloria is a Finnish abstract painter whose practice is grounded in a deeply personal, yet archetypal journey of self-knowledge, visualized in a comprehensive cycle of six collections (2012–2026).
Today, her work is a synthesis of lived experience and a philosophy of embodied presence. Through an intuitive use of colour and form, she creates spaces for silence and contemplation, which resonate with the contemporary search for resilience and meaning.
